Dream Home Giveaway

I'm not a big supporter of sweepstakes for a variety of reasons, but the
HGTV Dream Home Giveaway is one that I do enter regularly.
I've never won and probably never will,
but I figure someone has to and just in case it could be me,
it's worth a few seconds to enter.

This year you can enter once a day at the HGTV site
and once a day at the Front Door site.
(Check their rules - must be over 18 to enter and more.)
Here are the links:

:) If you win, remember you heard it here! :)

Marriage: Renew Your Love Today

I love being married. My husband is not perfect, but he's perfect for me
and I am thankful that we are spending our lives together.
It is my goal each day to make him the happiest man alive.

Think of what you can do today to make your marriage better.
I don't mean big things and I don't mean changing anything about HIM.
I am talking about little things that require nothing but time and effort from you.

Surprise him with a glass of tea or refill whatever he has without being asked.
Instead of grumbling when you pick up his dirty laundry, just chuckle.
Ask him how you can pray for him this week and then do it - every day.
Don't fuss because he wants to watch football all day. Let him enjoy it.
Write him a little love note and slip it into his briefcase or under his pillow.

Forgive him for whatever you think he did wrong or didn't do.
Don't even mention it; just cross it off your mentail list and forget it ever happened.

Most of all, expect nothing in return. Marriage isn't about keeping score.

If you'd like to share with us what you've done today, leave it as a comment.
We can all use a little encouragement and inspiration.

Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2011!
It's the beginning of a brand new year and a perfect time to
start some new routines, form some new habits, and work to improve your life.
Simple is Best is here to help you do just that!
For starters, take a look around your house.
Are there things you want to replace? eliminate? enhance?
Try to look at each room through fresh eyes, as if seeing it for the first time.
Then make a list of everything you'd like to see changed.

Once you've done this in every room and made a list of what you want to do,
then start looking for ways to make it happen that will fit your budget.
If you can afford to toss everything and buy brand new without worry,
then do it (and bless someone less fortunate by giving them what you toss.)
If, like most of us, that is not a possibility, then get creative and start planning.

Instead of buying a new chair, consider reupholstering the old one or recovering it.
Even a quilt or blanket hung over the back or new throw pillows can freshen things up.
Would a fresh coat of paint on the wall make a dramatic difference?
Paint is pretty inexpensive and you can probably do it yourself in a day.

Another inexpensive option is to rearrange your furniture.
Don't feel bound by where plugs are, either; running an extension cord or
having a new cable outlet installed is far cheaper than buying new furniture.

Would you share some of your ideas with us?

Please leave a comment. Tell us your plans and the results of your efforts.
